  • Al Balid Archelogical Site 

The Al Balid Archaeological Site is a must-visit UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in eastern Salalah, it is known for being called the ‘Land of Frankincense’ thanks to it historically being a port city where frankincense was held for many centuries. 

  • Beautiful Waterfalls

In the monsoon season, Salalah has a variety of must-visit waterfalls. The most popular waterfalls include Ayn Athum, Wadi Durbat, Ayn Khor, and Ayn Gogub.

Complete with limestone walls and off-white ruins overlooking the Wadi Darbat River, the picturesque Sumhuram Old City is a great place to explore in the sunshine. On your visit to the Sumhuram Old City, make sure to take a trip to the museum nearby for information on the history of frankincense and stories from the city.

Just a half an hour drive from Salalah, Wadi Darbat is one of the most picturesque spots in Oman. Known for being the perfect picnic spot and a place to enjoy a short boat ride, it’s guaranteed to deliver a good day out for the whole family.

Transportation in Salalah

The best way to get around Salalah is by car, so it is recommended to either rent a car for the duration of your stay or use taxis. Taxi fares in Salalah start at OMR 2 for 3kms, which is the minimum fare.  There is a public transport system within the city, but it is not accessible to the main attractions outside of the city.
