  • Shopping at the Markets and Bazaars

Antakya is renowned for its locally-produced olive oil, laurel soap and silks, among other items, and these can all be found at the local markets and bazaars. The bazaar district in the city center starting at the Ulu Cami is good for wandering, browsing and buying. Lots of shops sell the local laurel soap, many others are loaded with foods particular to the region.

  • Titus Tunnel

The Titus Tunnel is a Roman engineering wonder. Once used at a passage for water, today the channel is dry but still worth a visit. Explore the tunnel using the pathway which ascends along the channel, climb up and down steps and rocks, to where an arched limestone footbridge crosses.

  • Antakya Museum

The Roman mosaics in the Antakya Archeology Museum is the main attraction in this city at the far eastern end of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, though the city’s long history has left much more behind. Discover the stunning displays for yourself.

  •  Visit Vakifli Village

Vakifli Village, a small, rustic village of approximately 150 people and located approximately 20km from Antakya, is a lovely and peaceful place to visit. You can easily get there by tour shuttles or rental car from Antakya.

Antakya Park, right in the city center neighboring Antakya Archeological Museum by Asi River is an excellent spot to relax, take in the surroundings and appreciate Antakya. The park has a wide variety of well established vegetation, nice walking paths and cafes.

The best way to get around Antakya is by bus, car or taxi, so it is recommended to either rent a car for the duration of your stay or use taxis. There are plenty of taxis in populated areas with a starting price of 5 liras, Taxis cost 4 liras per kilometer. Buses are available almost in every populated street and have a fixed route. They are cash-only and you need to pay the driver up front. It's also recommended to rent your own car during your stay.
