Your Hajj Journey: What to Know Before You Travel
The time for this holiest of pilgrimages is fast approaching. Plan your journey with flynas. Our special Hajj guide details everything you need to know and do before you travel.
Step-by-Step Hajj Guide
Preparing for your Hajj journey is not something you can do overnight. From documentation to packing, there are several things you must do before boarding your plane to Makkah.
Here’s a step-by-step Hajj guide to ensure your journey goes smoothly.
Create Your Nusuk Account
You’ll need a Nusuk account to apply for your Hajj permit. Simply access the site or app and register an account by following the easy steps.
Hajj Permit
The very first thing you must do is apply for your Hajj permit or Nusuk card. During Hajj, entry to Makkah is strictly controlled, and entering without a permit results in severe fines and penalties.
Apply for your Hajj permit through the official Nusuk platform or mobile app, operated by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This is a special Hajj identification card that gives you access to the holy sites. You should keep this on your person at all times; when you arrive at holy sites, during rituals, and when you depart from holy sites.
Choosing Your Package
Everything from flights, accommodation, and catering to Mashair services should be booked through the Nusuk portal. This is a must to ensure there are no problems with your Hajj permit and to oversee the logistics of Hajj, which draws pilgrims from all over the world.
There are all-inclusive packages that cover absolutely everything — your flights, accommodation, catering, transportation, Mashair services, and guides.
flynas is a recognized Nusuk service provider. With us, you can secure premium- or economy-class flights for your Hajj pilgrimage.
We pride ourselves on our award-winning services, which include bespoke options such as pre-ordered flight meals, extra baggage allowances, and lounge access.
Health Requirements
Several compulsory and recommended health steps must be taken for Hajj.
You must get the following vaccinations:
● Quadruple meningitis vaccine for Neisseria meningitidis. You should get this at least 10 days before traveling.
● Polio vaccine if you’re traveling from red-flagged regions. You must get this vaccine at least four weeks to 12 months before traveling.
● Yellow fever vaccine if you’re traveling from red-flagged regions. You must also get this one at least 10 days before traveling.
Your COVID-19 vaccinations must be up to date, and it’s wise to go for a seasonal flu vaccine. This rule also applies to all children older than 12 years.
All pilgrims must have a medical fitness certificate for Hajj 2026.
Elderly people or those suffering from chronic health conditions must also take special precautions. These include details about their conditions and medications.
Packing for Hajj
The golden rule is to pack as light as possible because you’ll be moving around a lot. Here’s a handy checklist.
● Ihram garments for men and modest clothing for women. Clothes should be light and breathable for the heat.
● Comfortable walking shoes or sandals.
● Flip flops or slippers.
● Unscented toiletries (soaps, shampoos, creams, deodorant, and wet wipes).
● Toothbrush and toothpaste.
● Portable mirror.
