Although Munich is a vibrant city, its relaxed atmosphere is village-like. In summer, everybody enjoys the green outdoor spaces.

Marienplatz, the town square, is a Munich cultural attraction not to be missed. It’s home to the stunning town hall and the famous Glockenspiel (a clock that reenacts a 1568 royal wedding twice a day).

Bolzano’s Austrian-Italian culture is a perfect “bridge” between the two countries. Attractions include the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, Via dei Portici, a medieval street lined with porticoes, and Castle Roncolo with its medieval frescoes.

Winding Down to Lake Garda: Beauty and Outdoor Activities

From Bolzano to Lake Garda, the scenic drive can take up to six hours, depending on the route you choose — Valley of the Lakes (about two hours), Brenta Dolomites (about three hours), or Ultimate Dolomites Loop (about six hours). Each leads you through different landscapes, from mountain walls and valleys to jagged limestone peaks and dramatic passes.

This is the largest lake in Italy and features a blend of Mediterranean-type shores and rugged alpine heights. The area has a rich history and is a paradise for fans of the outdoors. Ending in Milan: Where High Fashion Meets Age-Old History

This part of your Dolomites and Milan itinerary meanders through alpine foothills and historic little towns, and takes between three and four hours.
