Airport Travel Guide

At flynas, we know that a smooth airport experience automatically kicks off your holiday, quick getaway, or business trip on a high note. First-time airport travel can be especially daunting. Simply follow our practical airport guide for first-time flyers to avoid unpleasant surprises and unnecessary stress.

Booking your ticket

Though it sounds odd, your airport encounter starts when you book your ticket. Thanks to technology, you can book your flight tickets online in a few easy steps. Double-check your flight dates, number of passengers and their ages, and your preferred flight class. This will ensure no hiccups when checking in and prevent unnecessary delays at the airport.

And, remember, with flynas, you can manage your booking online because we know mistakes are human.

Pack like an expert

Check out all the luggage do’s and don'ts before you pack your bags. Pay special attention to weight limits, carry-on restrictions (such as aerosols and liquids in carry-on bags), and special luggage requirements, including sports equipment and other special baggage.

Arrive in good time and follow the signs

Ensure you get to the airport well before your flight departs — two hours for domestic and three hours for international flights.

Follow the signs to your airport terminal. Airports have clear directional and information signs to point you in the right direction. Try to arrive as close to your designated terminal as possible to save you from running around or trying to catch an airport shuttle.

Check in

If you haven’t checked in online, do so upon arrival at the airport. You can usually perform online check-ins 24 hours before your flight. This is especially convenient when you only have carry-on baggage, as you can go straight to security and proceed to your boarding gate.

Otherwise, check in at the airline counter. After providing the necessary details, you will receive a printed boarding pass, and your bags will be tagged and checked. If you use a self-service kiosk, you must still go to a baggage drop line to weigh and check your bags.

Going through the security checkpoint

As the name suggests, a security checkpoint ensures people have valid flight passes verified against their identity or passport documents. So, have these documents ready and in hand to speed things up.

You will also go through metal scanners to ensure you carry no prohibited items. Electronics such as laptops and tablets must be placed in trays and x-rayed. Always check the airport security rules to avoid surprises.

Some airports have general checkpoints, others have gate-specific ones. If unsure, ask a staff member or check your boarding pass for instructions.

Find your boarding gate

Once you’re through security, make your way to your boarding gate, which is listed on your boarding pass. Avoid wandering too far from the departure area in case boarding starts early.

Listen for announcements and keep an eye on the flight screens for any updates or changes in gate numbers.

If you have access to a departure lounge, this is a great time to freshen up, snack, or relax. You can also browse duty-free shops before your flight.

Boarding and flying

When it’s time to board, the airline staff will call passengers according to boarding groups (Premium Class first). Ensure you're in the correct line.

Present your boarding pass — sometimes your passport or ID is checked — and proceed to the aircraft. Once inside, a flight attendant will guide you to your seat.

Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the warmth and hospitality of flynas!

Disembarking

After landing, remain seated with your seatbelt fastened until the aircraft stops completely. Wait for crew instructions for disembarking.

Collect your carry-on items and follow signs to the arrivals terminal or airport shuttle.

Leaving the airport

Retrieve your checked bags from the assigned carousel, listed on airport boards. If any luggage is missing, report it immediately to the airline desk before leaving the airport.

Once you have your bags, follow the signs to taxis, rental car counters, or pickup zones.

Airport transfers

When not flying direct, airport transfers may require several hours or an overnight stay. To avoid missed flights, ensure your connecting times are comfortable.
