Your Bavaria itinerary starts in the capital. Munich is a vast city with a unique culture. It’s one of the greenest metros in the world and, in summer, the natural scenery against the city’s historic architecture is remarkable. One of Munich’s main attractions is the highly interactive science and technology Deutsches Museum on an island in the Isar River.

Stops along the road to Austria include Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a prime alpine hub and home to the impressive Partnach Gorge and the Zugspitze in the Bavarian Alps.

Italy: Lakeside Beauty and City Style

Bolzano is the first Italian city that greets you as you travel from Austria. The Ritten Plateau, reachable by cable car, is home to the fascinating Earth Pyramids (huge, natural columns made of glacial clay). The Ultimate Dolomites Loop is a six-hour scenic drive through the mountain passes with indescribably stunning views.

The scenery transforms from jagged peaks to dramatic cliffs and the brilliantly blue waters of Lake Garda. Here, historic attractions include Castello Scaligero di Sirmione, an age-old fortress surrounded by water, and Grotte di Catullo, an ancient Roman villa with a museum and amazing views of the lake.
