Saudi National Carrier first to donate SR 200,000 in free tickets to the Disabled Children’s Association

Riyadh – September 3, 2014 – 
flynas the Saudi national carrier has announced a new initiative called “Buy a Ticket with a Child’s Smile” giving its customers the opportunity to donate and support the Disabled Children’s Association through the Airline’s website when purchasing their electronic tickets with ease and convenience.  

Amidst the presence of HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman, Chairman of the Disabled Children’s Association, a press conference was held on September 3 at the Association’s headquarters in Riyadh and following the signing of the agreement, flynas explained that the “Buy a Ticket with a child’s smile”  campaign will kick off on the same day with all proceeds going to support the Disabled Children’s Association.  The event was attended by media personnel, children and their families to announce the strategic partnership between the two organizations. flynas was the first to support the campaign by providing SR 200,000 free tickets to be used to support the operation of DCA’s various centers.

Commenting on the partnership, Suleiman Al Hamdan, CEO of NAS Holding said, “Stemming from our desire to collaborate with the Disabled Children’s Association, the opportunity to contribute to DCA’s various charitable and volunteering programs, and honoring our social responsibility and our commitment toward the community, we will provide our customers with an electronic donation mechanism which will reinforce the concept of charitable and volunteering initiatives in general and will contribute to availing free services to the children including education, rehabilitation, and treatment.”

Al Hamdan added, “At flynas we strive to continue collaborating with the DCA and other organizations to serve the community and improve the quality of life especially when it comes to this very important and dear segment that is close to our heart.”

HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Suwailem, Deputy Chairman of the Disabled Children’s Association highlighted flynas efforts in caring for its community.  He said, “I would like to extend my deepest appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Suleiman Al Hamdan CEO of NAS Holding and all NAS Holding employees and on behalf of DCA I would like to thank them for supporting the Association by signing this agreement which is a true reflection of the Company’s commitment and responsibility towards its community. 

He added, “We look forward to a making this program a viable investment to raise the capabilities of the various work groups within the various centers.  This is a model program which exemplifies the collaboration between the private sector and nonprofit organizations such as the Disabled Children’s Association and we invite the Airline’s various customers to take part in this campaign which will serve an important community cause.  Details on the revenues generated as a result of the campaign will be announced shortly through various media channels.”

Wael Al Sarhan, Director of Marketing and Communication at flynas, explained the key drivers of this initiative stating, “There are many people who wish to support key charitable initiatives including special needs.  This initiative comes with a modern and innovative approach to allow them to channel their donations to a segment that is in need of their support, with flynas becoming the first company in Saudi Arabia to adopt this type of charitable work using modern technology.

He continued, “We are certain that flynas customers will be able to lend a helping hand to this important segment by donating directly to DCA through their bank account using a special icon placed on the flynas website.”

Al Sarhan concluded, “flynas has an active website with online bookings hitting 2.3 million from the period starting January 1 to August 31, 2014.”

The “Buy a Ticket with a child smile” initiative is part of flynas Community Services programs where the Airline is very active in supporting the various national and social programs that includes key partnerships with various sectors in the community.
