FLYNAS APPOINTS CAPTAIN MANSOUR AL-HARBI AS COO


Top Executive Brings Years of Aviation Industry Experience to New Position



Riyadh, February 9, 2015: flynas, Saudi Arabia's national carrier, has announced the appointment of Captain Mansour Al Harbi as Chief Operating Officer of the airline. Captain Al Harbi’s wide-ranging background in the aviation industry will allow him to play a significant role in the airline’s ongoing development.

Paul Byrne, CEO of flynas, hailed the move as a significant benefit to the rapidly growing airline. "Captain Mansour Al Harbi has extensive experience in the operations sector, and has a track record of impressive accomplishments that will serve him well in this new and very important position. We wish him all the success in his new mission," Byrne said.

The new COO brings 25 years’ experience in the aviation sector to his new post. He has held numerous positions in the field of aviation and Ministry of Defense training. Captain Al Harbi joined flynas in 2009 as Director of Training, and then became Assistant Director of Operations. In 2011 he was appointed Senior Executive of flight Operations, assuming responsibility for several departments, including Air Operations, Training Department, Department of Air Services, Standards and Quality, and the Operations Control Center.

Captain Al Harbi was responsible for restructuring air operations to comply fully with modern aviation industry policies as well as introducing what is becoming standard technology in the cockpit. By adding iPads to the cockpit, he made flynas the first airline in the Kingdom to use the iPad as an electronic flight bag in place of paper for all cockpit-related flight operations. Captain Al Harbi also headed the Pilots of the Future program and has worked to increase the number of trainees from 12 to 30 per year.
