Kuala Lumpur & Jakarta among initial destinations of flynas’ Global Flight Routes program whose network will cover Europe, Asia and Africa
Saudi Ambassador in Indonesia: “We will provide a full support to flynas as a national carrier reinforcing its role in developing air traffic between the Kingdom and Indonesia”
Kuala Lumpur & Jakarta, February 23, 2014: flynas, the Kingdom’s national carrier, concluded a successful South East Asia tour targeting Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, two destinations part of the recently launched ambitious Global Flight Routes program.
The Kuala Lumpur announcement was made by Raja Azmi, flynas CEO at a press conference held at the Malaysian Petroleum Club, Kuala Lumpur at the Twin Towers, in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Fahad Al-Rasheed, senior executives of the airline and Malaysian government officials.
The second leg of the tour was in Jakarta where a press conference was held for local press followed by an exclusive gala dinner held at the InterContinental Hotel Jakarta, attended by Saudi Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Mustafa Ibrahim Al-Mubarak, senior members of the Saudi Embassy in Indonesia in addition to the Head of Consular Section and other Embassy members, senior executives of the airline and Heads of Aviation Unions. HE the Saudi Ambassador lauded the role of flynas in developing the air traffic industry in region stating: “flynas has made huge strides in developing the air traffic industry and we are ready to provide a full support to the national carrier to support its program and initiatives in developing air traffic between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. This in turn will contribute in reinforcing economic and tourism ties between both countries in addition to our commitment in supporting all the Saudi companies which work outside the Kingdom and all the companies who are invest in these markets.”
Speaking on the tour, flynas CEO Raja Azmi said “The expansion of our network to include destinations that are seen as high-growth markets is a key element of our strategy to lead the airline into a new chapter of aggressive development. The destinations chosen as part of our Global Flight Routes program underscore our commitment to make flynas a leading airline in the high value, low cost segment of the market.
Azmi added, “Malaysia is popular as an inbound and outbound destination for Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East region and Indonesia also is considered as the most populous Muslim country in the world and is therefore a key growth market for all inbound tourism into Saudi Arabia. Moreover, the Indonesian government recently has been actively targeting the Saudi leisure market with attractive travel packages and promotions held in the Kingdom, We expect to capture the air passenger segment from both countries that appreciates a high value offering through the introduction of the new concept of Low Cost Carrier Plus (LCC+),.”
Also commenting, Bander Al Mohanna, Deputy Group CEO of NAS Holding said: “Our shared Islamic culture with both Malaysia and Indonesia has facilitated a relationship based on mutual benefit for both countries and Saudi Arabia. One million people performed Hajj & Umrah last year from both Indonesia & Malaysia making both countries one of the largest contingents of inbound tourism to Saudi Arabia. Malaysia also continues to be an extremely popular tourism destination for Saudis with more than 73,000 nationals visiting the country between January and September 2013 according to figures quoted by Tourism Malaysia. More than 55% which are between the ages of 25-34 and stay on average between 9-13 nights.
Both the Malaysian and Indonesian capitals are key destinations of the flynas Global Flight Routes program, which will feature an affordable, high-value international route network across Europe, Asia and Africa. All of flynas’ international flights will operate out of its hub in Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Other destinations set to be rolled out as part of the program include London Gatwick and Manchester in UK; Paris in France; Karachi in Pakistan and Casablanca in Morocco.
